-=Rikimaru Ramen - "No restaurant was more popular with the young Shimada brothers than the Rikimaru Ramen shop just outside the gates of their family compound. They share fond memories of trying to outeat each other and seeing who could eat the spiciest bowl. The loss of those happy days weight heavily on Genji, but he has made his peace with t he events of the past and looks to a more hopeful future. Perhaps one day the future will include his brother, Hanzo, and a steaming bowl of ramen."

-=Soba-Cha Custard - "It was invented by the Shimada Family's chef as a way of rewarding Genji and Hanzo for studying. Genji used to eat his looking out over the rest of Hanamura with his legs dangling over the ledge of the roof of the Shimadas' ancestral home."

-=Green Dragon Tea -"Genji developed this drink himself using some of his favorite flavors from home. Along with meditation, it helped sustain him during some of the colder nights in his time at the Shambali Monastery in Nepal with Zenyatta."

📂 Headcanon:
These are things that I generally consider as I RP the character and will keep unless canon states otherwise!

TIMELINE:
All ages are approximate other than he is 35 in current

-=Born: Slightly before the Omnic Crisis & Overwatch

-=About Three years younger than Hanzo

-=He is about 26 when Hanzo and him Fight, leaving him near death. He is picked up by Overwatch and rebuilt. Said to be 'extreme'. No doubt took some time to heal and learn to use his body again.

-=About 26-27 (depending on how long it took to heal) when he joins Blackwatch. Doesn't care too much about the group, but well enough to work with this. He is Angry and Aggressive and a bit hopeless. His humor is darker. He does work well with the team when he has to.

-=Assists Blackwatch in taking down Shimada Clan

-=Overwatch Disband when he's about 29. Wanders the world on his own for a while. Angry. Hasty. Bitter. Violent.

-=Between leaving Overwatch and The Recall, he meets Zenyatta, who wont leave him the fuck alone! Only, it's a good thing. He learns not to be a fuck-ass. Learns Peace. Genji is good. I say about 1 year of angry wandering, making him 30 when he meets Master.

-=The Recall - Somewhat Current (35). He answers the Recall, leaving to check in on what is going on. He's not interested in rejoining Overwatch, but he is interested in doing good, so he's willing to help so he Joins up anyhow.

-=The Assassination of Mondatta - Assuming this is AFTER Recall, he would have wanted to check in on Master Zenyatta for sure.

-=Dragons - This is After Recall, I think. Being Recalled helped him decide that maybe it was time to check on his brother. Finding him honoring his name again, he confronts him and tells him what's up. That his brother has forgive himself, and to take a side.

-=Genji is noted as being a playboy when he was younger, which started all his troubles. I like to think he flirted with anything that walked. After he received his new body most all of that young energy is gone. He's not the same as he used to be and has grown up considerably.

-=He does still flirt however, but it's more a tactic to distancing himself from others. As in flirt uncomfortably and people will leave him alone. Or, if it's someone friendly, he will flirt and then bolt the moment something starts getting serious.

-=Fanon seems unsure over his green hair or dark hair. I like to say he died it when he was younger and is darker now. However, if canon says it's naturally green, I am all for it, just that he seems like a lil punk rebel as a kid and dying your hair green is a good sign of that.

-=OVERWATCH:
I like to think he tried to keep himself at a distance while in Overwatch. Not much of a friendly person at that point. Still too hurt and struggling with what he had become.

-=Angry, aggressive, violent at times, but not a bad guy. Just very hurt.
-=Got into a Sparring match with McCree once that ended with the boys beating the crap out of each other. Still managed to get along with the guy.
-=Reinhardt interested him, filling in that older figure he could almost respect.
-=Morrison and Reyes both pissed him off, but also were respectable? So he might look like he didn't want to take orders from either but he would.
-=Ana was to be respected no matter what she said or did. It was hard to be angry around her, though he tried.
-=Given Winston's graduation photo shot has him proudly standing between Reinhardt and McCree, I like to think he got along with the two of them well enough. Mercy, because of all the work she had to do to fix him, he would have had to be around her more, and honestly, she's hard to hate.
-=Moira was tolerable enough and though he'd rather Mercy do his upkeep, being part of Blackwatch meant Moira had a hand in his care as well. She's dark, so that was okay enough for him.
-=I can't see him disliking anyone, but he never got buddy buddy with anyone either. It was work. An agreement for his body, nothing more.

-=Genji is about 80% cybernetic. Most of his face, head and brain are still there and intact, though his hearing is fixed and advanced. He still has most of his internals and most of his torso of his own though some have been assisted with parts. Legs and one arm are all gone and mechanical. The fact that there is still human parts under that plating also explains the grunts, oofs and moans when he is hit in game. It still hurts, after all.

-=Continuing with the above, I like to think that his heart is either replaced or half gone and mechanical. Mostly because I love the idea that part of his issues was that he was feeling as if too much of him was gone to be 'human' anymore. If you lose your heart do you still have a soul? Master Zenyatta helped him learn that he can and does still. I also enjoy the mechanical heart idea because of the Tin Man. He has a line about how a heart still beats within his chest however, so I generally headcanon that his heart is assisted by machines.

-=He DOES eat and drink things! But he never needs much, and nothing tastes the same as it once did. He needs very little and does not get hungry often, much to his disappointment.

-=He does not drink alcohol often, or any other stimulant food or drink, because there is so little human body there to absorb it all, a little goes a long ways. Drunk Genji is a happy guy, but mood swings can be quick around the wrong topics. It is RARE to find him drinking. If he does, it's with friends. Or it's cold weather and he's added some sake to his tea to help warm up.

-=Genji's name may be a reference to the main character in the Japanese classic novel, The Tale of Genji. Overwatch's Genji is described as a 'playboy', while the novel's Genji is heavily characterized by his relationships with multiple women. Similarly, both men experience being banished from their families. (from wiki)

-=Finding some of the old Classics in music, Genji has grown to find a wide range of music. Mostly J-Rock in his younger years, but some other random poppy things have attached to him since he's chilled out.

-=Sabaton - Shiroyama (youtube)... someone rec'ed it to him. It felt fitting.
-=HYDE - Angel's Tale (youtube)... ask him to sing this one...
-=S.K.I.N Yoshiki, Miyavi, Gackt, Sugizo (youtube) ... hard to find but pretty much anything from the Classic J-rock Super band.
